Recently I’ve been faced with several decisions. Decisions in which I know what God wants me to do, but I want the opposite. It’s hard to give up something that you want whole-heartedly when you know that God doesn’t want it for you at all. I ask myself….”maybe if I obey God, he will bless me with more than what I want.” How selfish is that? It’s so so so selfish and I’m disgusted that I would even think that way. God doesn’t owe me anything. He gave it all when he sent his only son to die for my sins so that I could have eternal life. That alone is the greatest give of all. BUT, our God is SO GOOD that He STILL promises to bless those who obey him. What a wonderful God that we serve. As if sending Jesus to die for us wasn’t enough, He still sends miracles, blessings, peace, happiness and joy. I’m thankful that I’m able to cling to that promise of eternal life.
When you’re praying and asking Christ for something that you want, remember that He doesn’t owe you anything. Instead, we owe him everything.
Happy Mother’s Day!
