Keeping the Focus on Him

Wow, it has been such a great weekend!  It was my best friends birthday, and we had the time of our lives.  We started the day off by going to class.  Then, we went and got our nails done.  We were feeling extra girly so we decided to get a makeover at the Mac counter. After that, my best friend got her hair done, and while she was doing that, her mom, my mom, and I hung out.  After she got her hair done, we went to Bonefish Grill and had a delicious dinner!  I felt like I was running around all day, and I pushed God to the back of my mind.  I am a person who is in constant prayer and in constant conversation with God, so it was not normal for me to not acknowledge God at all times.  We must always remember that even on our busiest days, God should always be front and center in our minds.  God is the director of the show, and we should never push him to the back of our minds when we have other things going on.  I can assure you that we are always His first priority.  He put ALL OF US before Himself and his ONE and ONLY son.  If you have trouble acknowledging God in all situations, you should:

  1. Have quiet time each morning.  I have quiet time every morning.  During my quiet time, I read my devotional for the day, (Jesus Calling–I encourage anyone who does not have it to get it) and I read verses that are related to my devotional.  I am on a one year reading plan to finish The Bible, so I read a few chapters a day.  After I read my devotional and my bible, I pray.  There is nothing better than starting off your day with the word of God.  It sets a positive outlook for the rest of the day.
  2. Be constant in prayer.  Praying is not something that is supposed to be done just once a day, before bed at night, etc.  God commands that we should be constant in prayer.  (Romans 12:12) The most amazing thing about prayer is that you can do it any way and any where you want to; therefore, there should never be an excuse for not praying.
  3. Talk God’s ear off.  No, really.  You CAN talk to God, and unlike most people, He is ALWAYS listening.  I mean, how cool is that?  God is so cool.
  4. Listen to Christian music: My radio station stays put on KLRC, which is the Christian radio station in my area.  It seems like every time I need a message from God, a powerful song comes on the radio.  Rather than filling your minds with unhealthy lyrics, try listening to some positive music that is guaranteed to influence your life.
