D is for Desire

Often I wonder if God is ever going to give me the desires of my heart. How foolish and selfish is that? It is something that I know not only I struggle with, but every believer does, too. The other day it clicked, though. OF COURSE God is going to delight me with the things I want. He tells me that in His own words. Psalm 37:4 says, “delight yourself in The Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” God wants us to have desires. He created our bodies, and he created us to have emotions, feelings, and desires. If God didn’t have a plan to fulfill these desires in our hearts, he would not have created us with them. Maybe you have a desire to move out of the country, maybe a desire to start a family one day, maybe a desire to be successful in a career. Whichever it is, if you seek God first, then He will give you the desires of your heart during his precious timing. God doesn’t make us painfully wait for no reason. Everything He does is for a purpose, and you will never reach a point of satisfaction until you hand everything over to Him and live solely to seek His purpose.

  1. Sometimes I feel like no matter what I do I wont get the “desires of my heart” I feel so unworthy. Like who am I the God would do such and such? Your post was very encouraging to me this morning. Thanks!
